The portrait of King Olav V is the first in a row of Norwegian royalty in Vidar's collection of Norwegian history.

The colors used go well with the reminding royal collection of HM King Harald V, Queen Sonja, and the Crown Prince Haakon Magnus.

The color palette used in the portraits is associated with royalty and monarchy. The blue faces are based on the history of people with noble birth said to be "blue-blooded". The term was first used in English in the early 19th century but likely originated further back in medieval Spain as "sangre azul".
