Giclée / D.G.A.

Giclée or D.G.A. refers to a high-quality digital art print created using special printers that utilize 9-12 colors of light-fast, pigment-based ink on acid-free museum-quality cotton paper. The colors are sprayed layer by layer into the paper, and guaranteed to last 100 years. The terminology itself refers to the way the printer produces the image from a digital file such as a photograph, scan, or another digital file.

This technique was initially popularized by renowned artists like Andy Warhol and has recently gained widespread acceptance in the fine arts community. Galleries and museums worldwide recognize Giclée / D.G.A prints as legitimate works of art, with institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York fetching extraordinary prices at auction. In fact, a giclée print was sold for over $2 million at Sotheby's in 2017.

Vidar’s Giclée / D.G.A. prints blend traditional analouge hand drawing with modern digital art techniques. Each print is part of a limited edition, numbered, and signed by the artist.
