The artwork “GJØA" is named after the exploration vessel from Norway which was used on Roald Amundsen’s three-year expedition (1903-1906).
Gjøa was the first vessel to transit the Northwest Passage.
Roald Amundsen was a Norwegian explorer of polar regions. He was a key figure in the period known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
The color palette used reflects the beautiful tones of the polar region.
